Secrets of the Rich More Long Life - Scientists have discovered a type of hormone produced by the body and may be the key to the secrets of longevity. Uniquely, the more wealthy, more and more hormone in the body.
In a study titled Home Longitudinal Study of Ageing involving thousands of people aged 50 years and over of scientists from University College London discovered a substance called dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS). The hormone that is claimed to extend life, and based on research, DHEAS in greater numbers there are those who prosper.
The researchers, as quoted by the Daily Mail, recommends that in future number of hormones that could be reproduced in the body through tablets or injections.
Professor Sir Michael Marmot, who led the research said that the amount of hormone that can increase if more fulfilling life. The high levels of hormones associated with the amount of physical exercise and live more active with lots of entertainment, pleasure, family, and friends. All relative can be obtained if you are quite prosperous.
This hormone is secreted by the adrenal glands located above the kidneys. Hormone production is very high in childhood and youth before decreasing regularly when entering old age. At the age of 80 years, hormone production is only 10 percent from its peak when the teenage years.
DHEAS levels in the body associated with a strong memory and ability to cope with the mental burden, especially in men. The researchers also found increased second hormone, insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I), in their more prosperous.
Two hormones that help control the reaction to regulate various processes in the body such as digestion, immune system, mood, and energy use.
Scientists said it is too early to say the high hormone DHEAS due to increased levels of one's prosperity.
But Michael believes, the benefits of prosperity such as diet, good control over health, lack of stress, frequent travel, exercise, and other pleasures will increase the amount of DHEAS in the body,
He stressed, increase the amount of hormone is not as easy as swallowing pills or taking injections.
"In my opinion, this is a bigger problem and including in it the options provided by the prosperity," said Sir Michael.
Hormone levels were calculated by analyzing blood samples of more than 1,000 volunteers aged over 50 years. The volunteers have been monitored since 2004.
"We found a clear social mix in some health indicators, namely those that are less affluent are more likely to suffer from obesity, low levels of physical exercise, high cigarette consumption, low consumption of fruits, dams are more prone to suffer from hypertension and diabetes," he continued.
"The new findings that the hormone DHEAS may increase life expectancy was also followed by social elements such as, low levels of wealth means that low levels of the hormone DHEAS. I believe, is the first time this relationship is identified," said Michael again.
The same study had previously shown a link between poverty and obesity risk, large waist circumference, as well as other measures of health care quality is low.
